Virginia Knight wrote >Saint-Saens Requiem is for me more deeply felt than much of his music, >probably because it was written in memory of one of his own children. >To my surprise, I enjoyed singing it (at an All Souls' Day service in >London a few years ago), but I don't find it so engaging to listen to.< Oddly enough, that is how I find Vaughan Williams "Hodie". Wedid it in canterbury Choral society years ago; quite challenging, and lovely to sing. I think to enjoy some music it has to have been part of one's own practical musical experience. Anyone else find this so? Doris><>
