Ron Chaplin, who has discovered the very exciting combination of Mravinsky
and Shostakovitch asks:

>Where do I go from here?

I was not a particular fan of Shostakovitch's 7th symphony until I
got Mravinsky's recording on Omega Classics. It is mono, but it is
spectacular. A lot of listeners find the long march sequence of the
first movement to be merely annoying, but in this recording it is ominous
and maniacal, aided in large part by that harsh Leningrad brass, and the
symphony as a whole is just a wonderfully powerful and exhausting piece
of music.
