The issue of what role the pharmaceutical industry will have in my
practice is something I am already having to contemplate and something
I'm struggling with. I am a student nurse practitioner with a strong
interest in womens health and lactation issues. Even as a student it is
becoming clear that just about every conference, seminar, etc. has
pharmaceutical sponsorship. Provided that it's limited to drugs for
specific conditions, I haven't had too much of a problem with that. I
have not yet encountered one that was sponsored by the specific division
that handles the infant nutritionals. I know THAT is a line I would be
very uncomfortable crossing. But the others? Still struggling. And
would love to know what others feel and how they handle the situation.
