Lactnetters, I have been contacted by a woman regarding something she heard. I will include her posts here. I have her permission to post. I am wondering what your thoughts are on the matter of long term pumping for breast health. This has been discussed a bit in the "drying up milk" thread. So do any of the Africa-based LC's know anything about the concept of "breastfeeding for life"? Here are her posts. "I work with a woman from Africa who claims that African women breast feed for life, and never get breast cancer. Any info on breast feeding via pump or whatever after weaning for breast health?" "I think the question would be - does lifelong lactation cause any harm, and was it the natural state for primitive women. Thank you for posting this for me." Thanks for any and all information that can be posted to the list. :) Wendi Jones breastfeeding advocate http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding resources and information *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
