Last summer, a group from my church (mostly teens) went to Jamaica and helped a local church with Vacation Bible School, etc. The slides the group showed our church on their return were all nice except one that made me absolutely sick to my stomach--you guessed it--our members handing out free powdered formula to the poor, smiling Jamaican children. I was absolutely *outraged* and my stomach was in knots, but for several reasons decided to wait until another trip was planned somewhere before saying anything to the folks in charge of the trip. Well, now I see that another trip to Jamaica is planned and I'm gathering up information. I searched the archives and found a wonderful post by Chonyi Glassman from October of last year giving several links. Unfortunately, only one of them, the ILCA relief policy, still works. I would like to have statements from more organizations than ILCA. I have searched the WHO site and waded through a lot of info, but haven't been able to find what I am looking for. Does anyone know of more links that work? If anyone on this list from Jamiaca wants to write me privately with their take on this, I would also welcome it. Thanks for any help! Chrissy P.S. I am sorry to have offended you, Jennifer D., by my signature line. I know you are certified by another organization as a doula, as are others on this list, but I never dreamed my CAPPA signature would be taken offensively. My apologies. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today!
