I am writing to enlist your help. In the Sunday edition of the TIMES HERALD RECORD, Middletown, N. Y, there is an article about a woman who was asked to remove her artwork depicting a breastfeeding baby. It was part of a series of 4 paintings titled "She Nourishes." The exhibit is at Stewart Airport, in Newburgh, N.Y.,and apparently the management stated that there were 'complaints' regarding the picture. The artist removed all of her artwork from the display in protest. As a local citizen, a woman, an IBCLC working in a local hospital, a health professional and a mother, I would like to do something to express my outrage, (in a positive way of course :). I am going to write to the newspaper and hope that my opinion gets printed. I would like to ask all of you to write to the management of Stewart Airport in Newburgh, New York to express your outrage too. You may be able to read a copy of the article on line, I'm not sure. You can also e mail me with any other ideas you may have. Thank you!
