Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing a sudden change from yellow pleasant smelling breastmilk stools to orange foul smelling stools in an otherwise healthy exclusively breastfed 14 week old? The stools began abruptly a couple of weeks ago...the stools were occurring about once a day, (as was his stooling pattern at the time being a 12 week old), and were watery as well. Now they are thicker and he is stooling an average of every 2-3 days.....I can find no significant history in talking to this mother....she does eat carrots everyday....(I was trying to think of everything I could!) Her pediatrician told her not to worry.....I'm not so sure....it's the foul smell that concerns me. The mother has changed nothing in her diet, is not on any medications, herbs, vitamins, etc. Help!
