With hypothyroidism, one does not have to wean. One has to get the condition under control. The medication for thyroid replacement is acceptable and compatible with bf. This mom's numbers are HIGH though. Maybe she is experiencing a thryoid hormone overload temporarily. I myself had this happen...and then my levels dropped ...afterwards. Are you sure they aren't talking of hyperthyroidism? The place to check these things is with reliable resources, with another knowledgeble doctor..etc..I want to remind you that Lactnet archives are not checked for accuracy. Every post there is as it was entered by the sender, correct or *not*. Checking the archives before posting is also politely but emphatically requested. Try it sometime. It is fun to do...and we would gladly help anyone who is trying to do this wonderful trick. Thanks! Kathleen Kathleen B. Bruce, BSN, IBCLC co-owner Lactnet, Indep.
