Rob,
  Besides health benefits for mom and baby and monetary
benefits for company, it's worth letting people know that
this is doable! There are many companies that support bf
in the workplace successfully. It takes flexibility and
openness on the part of the mom and the company, but when
it's done all sides agree that it's worth it.
In addition to fewer days off to care for sick babies, another
benefit for companies is that workers are appreciative of
the effort and dedicated. When mothers feel supported in
the workplace they are usually usually more than willing to put
in the extra mile for their company when the opportunity arises.
  There are stats on this and the ILO WHO and others have policy
statements on it if only American companies would take them
seriously. There are some states with legislation and programs in
this area as well, Texas and Florida come to mind immediately.
