Pat, You didn't mention whether or not she was trying breast compressions. I have seen some dramatic instances where it really gets baby to increase the suckling (and a few when it doesn't seem to help). Regarding the supplementer-I don't think it can make baby any less effective. Hopefully, getting more "reward" for the little he does do will encourage him to do even more. It would certainly be worth a try. In the hospital setting with a variety of equipment available, that's one time I would use a syringe and feeding tube to test whether the additional flow will get any better results. If it does, then I would move to a supplementer, but if it doesn't help, we've saved the cost of a supplementer. On another topic - I use the mnemonic "PMS" to remember your antigalactogogues.
