>My friends >said these babies seemed unable to figure out what to do at the breast. I have to agree, even from personal experience. My first child couldn't figure out what to do with the breast for about two weeks. If I wasn't so stubborn I would have ended up bottle feeding him. As it was I was talked into giving him ABM supplementation... I have to tell you his gut is still a mess and he is 4. He finally started nursing well, but after several consults and shields, etc. I remember getting up one morning and looking myself in the mirror and just deciding that I wasn't buying another ounce of formula and I wasn't using those shields anymore. I picked up my son, gave him a kiss and told him that I KNEW he could do this and he smiled his two week old smile at me and latched right on. Not saying that happens all the time but the power of positive thinking goes a long way. Melisa ~*~*~*~*~ Did you hear? Breast is Best!
