Right on Kathy. There is no artificial nipple which prevents nipple confusion. Because the babies are not confused, as it turns out. If the milk supply is abundant and the baby is getting good flow from the breast, he may not care, though even then... But if the baby gets slow flow from the breast (the reason we are supplementing, usually), then gets rapid flow from the bottle, whatever the nipple, most will figure that one out pretty soon. The rest is marketing only, and it's a shame that so many who can see through the formula company marketing can't see through the nipple manufacturer's marketing. We have two hospitals here in Toronto where they are back to bottles. One group swears by the Medela nipple, the other by the Avent. I just swear, because I see their patients afterwards, the babies refusing to breastfeed.
