Hello lactnetters,
I'd like to address Terry L. Dise's question about whether a mum with a G6PD
baby could consume fava beans. I have a G6PD son whom I breastfed for more
than 4 years and was advised from the start to avoid exposing my son to
anything that he could re-act to i.e. whether in terms of consuming the item
or being in contact with the item. The things to avoid were fava beans and
some Chinese herbs like chuan lian. The items to avoid were napthaline
balls (which is commonly used in wardrobes). I would assume that a mum
breastfeeding her G6PD child would be wise to avoid any of these allergens.
