For information on Grandparents Class, I do a Grandparent class on third night of Prepared Childbirth Class, their are magazines you can get i will have to get publisher name and send you that info, the class is three fold 1 the grandparent tell about their birth experience, were they prepared??? coach present, type of medication, etc, and i tell them at the beginning of class no violent stories these are first time parents and in the past some grandparents got a little graphic and they also tell if they breast or bottle fed, and we take the tour and they see the changes ldrp concept and rooming in, that is the part i get in on tour no water , supportive breastfeeding and then we return for regular class for the couples and last we discuss the changes in newborn care since the grandparents delivered of course 1. nutrition, no water ,no cereal at three weeks and what the American academy of ped recommends as far as when to start solids, and teach them to respect parents views , that we are eating better these days , always telling them they are valuable resources 2. safety all new information re walkers, car seats etc, babyprofing their home taking Infant child c.p.r. and 3. sleeping positioning this one is not quite as controversial as nutrition but close their babies slept on their tummies always adding the info on breastfeeding and s.i.d.s and how important tummy time is, the class is a big hit on a sat morning class a grandparent walked in and said i don't know how you are going to keep me interested for 3 hours and at the end of the class received excellent evual which i have a separate one for them to complete before they leave, we in the past had grandparent class separate and they were not well attended and now with 12 or 13 couples in class i have had a s many as 60 people attend and it helps them feel apart of their child's birth experience, and if they weren't supportive of breastfeeding which some of them did not succeed and they are very negative and discourage breastfeeding this helps that support for the mom . please email me privately for any other info. Sande Park 2, I have a question of lactnet ; I have a Mom that is a chemist is their any precautions she should take working and breastfeeding? *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
