Lisa, topical petrolatum ointment is the same as Vaseline. I don't know
if you are familiar with it, but it a non water soluble jelly made from
a petroleum base.  It is used as a lubricant and to seal skin away from
moisture, like for chapped hands or lips. Smells rather nasty.
