I've been researching an 1858 railroad line (and an earlier failed 1830's railroad) that serviced the town site I'm working with in Alabama).  An NCRS archaeologist recently found a large piece of old rail and several spikes from this railroad when advising on the construction of a Catfish pond several miles away.  We have plans to follow and map the traces of the old railroad bed for many miles inland from the town site (no plans for excavation however ).   So I would appreciate receiving copies of any help that is offered to Xavier.

Thank you.

By the way Xavier, in 1858 the town here graded away a  Mississippian Indian earthwork (mound) to create an embankment for the railroad!
