We have been doing teacher nights for more than 10 years, with mixed
success. Last year we adjusted the date of our teachers night to be a little
earlier in the year. This has affected our numbers a little (downward). We
will most likely move the date back to the end of September.

As for how to get information to them we do it as a lead in to the IMAX
presentation. We have a captive audience and take about 10 minutes to
discuss any new programs for the year or to highlight areas that we want to
focus on.

We hold the event on Monday evening when the Centre is closed. Advertise to
all schools in the area as well as include it in our fieldtrip calendar
which is sent out to all schools in the area as well as those teachers that
have booked in previous years. We get anywhere from 200 - 600 teachers for
the evening.

Subject: Teacher Nights

We are thinking of reinstating our annual teacher/educator night with
the idea of introducing our fieldtrips program to those new to us and
also to offer classroom ideas/support to those who already have come
to the musuem on fieldtrips.

For those of you who do or have done this, can you share your
experience --- both the positive and negative --- and what you'd do
differently?

Also, was it worth it? Did you get a good turnout? What days of the
week, time of year, and hours worked best?

Thanks so much,
Deb
