Rick Sowash's Concerto for Cello with Strings and Clarinet, which was
commissioned by Kalin Ivanov, is in four movements: I. Hymns and Fugues,
II. Bulgarian Blues; III. Sorbet and IV. Finale. He has written about
himself, 'Rick Sowash lives by his wits: composing, publishing sheet
music and producing CDs of his original compositions, which are broadcast
on many American classical music stations. Rick's music comprised the
film score of the PBS documentary: "Ohio: 200 Years." His Clarinet Quintet
was premiered in Paris in 1996. Two of his recent chamber works won
acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003. Rick lives with Jo, his
wife of 34 years, in Cincinnati, Ohio.' More about the composer at
http://www.sowash.com/.

Russian-Bulgarian composer and pianist Alexandra Karastoyanova-Hermentin
was born in Moscow, where she studied piano and composition. She continued
her studies in Sofia, Bulgaria and in Salzburg. Her compositions have
been played worldwide by orchestras and ensembles such as Mozarteum
Orchestra Salzburg, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), Da
Capo Chamber Players and the =D6sterreichisches Ensemble fur Neue Musik
(=D6ENM). She has received commissions from the Salzburg Government for
the VIVA! Mozart exhibition celebrating Mozart's 250th birthday, ORF
(Austrian National Broadcasting), stArt-Festival Salzburg and the HAMS
Competition in Chicago. She has also participated in many festivals in
the U.S. and Europe.
