R. Carlos Nakai to Perform Vision II by Judith Sainte Croix on October
28 and 29 with the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra, Arthur Post, Guest Conductor

Native American flute virtuoso R. Carlos Nakai and the Bozeman Symphony
Orchestra, Arthur Post, Guest Conductor, will perform Vision II by
American composer Judith Sainte Croix in two concerts entitled "The Song
of the Earth", on October 28 and 29 at 8 PM in Wilson Auditorium, 1822
W. Lincoln in Bozeman, Montana.

Vision II was commissioned by Heliosphere a New York group led by oboist,
Matt Sullivan and the piece premiered in New York City at Merkin Hall.
This 11-minute work is one of a series of pieces the composer has dedicated
to the survival of the Native people of the Americas. Depicting Cherokee
history poetically, the piece unfolds in three sections. The beginning
represents a point before the arrival of Europeans, then moves into the
crisis of contact with Europeans and finally in the third section is
resolved with the rebirth of the Cherokee Nation in the West. Vision
II was recorded by Heliosphere for the Sonic Muse CD release Visions
of Light and Mystery.

Also on the concert are works by John Williams, Alan Hovhaness, R. Carlos
Nakai, Silvestre Revueltas and others.

Tickets range from $8 to $45 and can be purchased from the Bozeman
Symphony at http://www.bozemansymphony.org/tickets.php or by calling
406-585-9774.
