Cellist Robert Jesselson has written of the work, 'In Memoriam is a
very moving tribute to the victims of the September 11 tragedy, and to
all victims of war and terror. It invariably touches the listener not
by an angry reaction to the events, but through a soulful and elegiac
sigh of remembrance. Although there is no specific programmatic aspect
to the music, audiences sometimes hear their own images of the events
in the music, including the slow descent of the thousands of papers
floating down from the towers".
