Arman Trio To Present London Premiere Of Benjamin Lees' Piano Trio No.2
"Silent Voices" - June 24 Performance at Wigmore Hall

The Arman Trio will present the London Premiere performance of Benjamin
Lees' Piano Trio No.2 "Silent Voices" at London's Wigmore Hall, 7:30pm
on Friday, June 24, 2005. Arensky's Trio No. 1, in D minor, Op.32,
Schubert's Notturno in E flat for piano, violin and cello, D897 and
Beethoven's Piano Trio in D Op 70 No 1 "Ghost" will also be presented
on this program. For more about this concert, please contact Wigmore
Hall online at http://www.wigmore-hall.org.uk/.

"Silent Voices" for piano, violin and cello was premiered at the United
States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC on May 31,1998 and
recorded for Albany Records. Of his Piano Trio No 2- (Silent Voices),
Benjamin Lees writes, "This work represents a small gesture of remembrance
to those whose voices were forever stilled by pogroms and genocides of
the past. I have tried to blend the elements of drama, grief and lyricism
into a very compact musical statement in the hope that this will be
communicated to the listener." The work is dedicated to Joseph Holt,
George Marsh, Steven Honigberg (the original performers of the work) and
the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The Arman Trio had previously
presented the Paris, New York and Miami premieres of the work. It has
also been performed by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Benjamin Lees' Symphony No. 5, "Kalmar Nyckel" was nominated for a 2003
Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Composition by the National Academy
of Recording Arts and Sciences. He was the first recipient of a Fromm
Foundation award for his String Quartet No. 1 and Sonata for Two Pianos.
His works have been commissioned, performed and recorded by, among others,
the Tokyo Quartet, Aurora Quartet, Sea Cliff Chamber Players, New York
Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony,
NBC Symphony, Vienna Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra,
Houston Symphony, National Symphony, Dallas Symphony, San Francisco
Ballet, American Symphony, Delaware Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony,
Louisville Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo and Portland
(OR) Symphony. He is published by Boosey & Hawkes. You can find much

The Arman Trio, consisting of pianist Deniz Arman Gelenbe, violinist
Constantin Bogdanas and cellist Dorel Fodoreanu, has been hailed by Le
Point (Paris) as a "meeting at the summit." The current members of the
Arman Trio have performed regularly in Europe and in the USA since 1998.
The Trio is a fusion of three successful careers. Their friendship and
collaboration in various ensembles had already started in 1985 in Paris.
They have appeared in prestigious festivals in Turkey, France and in
North Carolina. Their "poetic, impassioned and incisive performances"(John
Lambert, The Spectator, Raleigh, NC) have won them accolades from the
press and standing ovations from audiences. Their style reflects the
best chamber music traditions from Central Europe with elegant French
panache. The Arman Trio has recorded for the Albany and Musicians
Showcase Labels. For more information about the Arman Trio, contact
