It is true that the Boston Billow had to issue a recall, but, as I understand it from the owner Erik Skoug, it is because of a former recall in the 90's of an cushion marketed for infants. The problem seems to be that lawyers felt that as a nursing pillow, it was being promoted as a pillow for use by a child under one year of age. The danger, as they saw it, was that if a mother fell asleep after having breastfed, she could keel over and suffocate the baby. Rumors are that this legal situation was caused by Boppy. They have tried for years to put Boston Billows out of business. However, the result of this is that they may also have to do a recall of their product at some point.

Because of the 90's recall Boston Billow has had to issue a recall of their pillow as a nursing pillow. However, their pillow has been approved for use in NICUs and in hospitals, but as a therapeutic pillow intended for use by mothers. You can continue to buy this "therapeutic BillowPillow" from them. It is the same product but for use by adults only.

You may email Erik at [log in to unmask] if you need more complete information. Also, by next week there should be information on this recall at their website www.bostonbillows.com as well as letters of support by doctors.

Hope this clarifies things for everyone who loves the Billows as much as I do. Marilyn
