Christine, I forgot to highlight another potential factor.  Are the 3 year old and the 2 month old tandem nursing?  If so, there will be an impact of supply & flow given the layering of the 3 year old's nursing pattern over the newborn's.  It is well worth your sister's time to consider the pattern (or lack thereof!) and impact of tandem nursing.  This may be another area for mom to watch and guide.  No right or wrong of course, just another factor to explore.
