Liz,

I had the pleasure of sharing lunch with Dr. M. S. Haque at LLLI's physician
seminar in DC.  He is a pediatrician from Bangladesh and active with the
Bangladesh Breastfeeding Foundation.  He was commenting that one of the
greatest obstacles that is faced is the cultural superstition about
colostrum.  Many indian mothers will not feed their babies colostrum and wait
until their milk comes in.  Perhaps this is what you are experincing with the
mothers you are helping.
