We had a situation a few months ago that clearly seemed like malpractice. A
women having a repeat section at 38 weeks. Surprise! Out comes a 34-35
weeker.About 4 lbs. Someone had mis-read the ultrasound early in the
pregnancy and no one else had ever questioned her dates. Baby ended up in
the NICU for the 3 weeks of womb time that he missed. I am beginning to be
amazed to see anyone reach 40 weeks and having a primip reach 41+3 (normal
for a first baby) is almost unheard of.
