Dear Theresa, thank you  for your words of encouragement, if only every WIC program had a leader like you!  Locally, my WIC gives excellent info.  Bureaucratically at the state level, it sucks!  Our WIC person used to see every new breastfeeding mom in the hospital.  Now she may not.  Ruled out by the powers that be.  Now moms don't get in for a few weeks, by then   many are formula feeding :-(  I try to do as much as I can in a busy inner city ped practice, but there is only so much time.  I can provide info, encouragement and praise, but I don't have time to do what a WIC LC, peer couselor or LLLL has time to do for these moms.  I refer to WIC and La Leche League all the time, but many of my moms (culturally) don't reach out.  We need to be reaching out to them, not closing doors.  Pat in SNJ
