Melisa noted that we have some smart women on Lactnet, and we do.  But many,
many, many of the smart women on Lactnet are smart without the addition of
the letters IBCLC after their names, or the benefit of a test score showing
they master the technique of taking multiple choice tests on a familiar
topic, especially well.

For the record, the single most helpful way of preparing for the exam for me
was reading lactnet daily for the year preceding the exam date.  I didn't
plan it that way, but looking back on it that's how it was.  My fifteen
years of experience helping mothers with BF problems came in pretty handy
too.  I don't think I made a quantum leap up to a higher class of helper
when my scores came back.  (But it is nice, in arguing with people, to be
able to say I really do know what I'm talking about and have papers to prove
it :o) !)

BTW, we have some smart men on Lactnet as well.  I can't say 'many' because
I don't know how many are auditing.  But the few who post are some of the
gems of this list and I for one learn lots from them.
