Hi, I normally don't post web petitions or such, but I have been in dialogue with this group and it has been nasty, she has been attacking everyone who is a lactation consultant as simply wanting to make money off breastfeeding women.? She has been forwarding this around to the local girl scout groups, calling women morons and more! So please take the time to look and if you feel the need to send an email. I have been very respectful and was surprised to find out that this woman was so nasty, but unfortunately?quite influential.? That's why I feel the need to?share, because she is influencing so many women in my area!

I'm writing because my firm is working on a project to protect a woman's right to receive information and make an informed decision about the best way to feed her child. Some people believe that women who chose not to breastfeed their children are harming them, however they fail to take into consideration that some women are not able to breastfeed because of different obstacles like medical reasons or needing to return to work.

?

Currently a website called Moms Feeding Freedom is putting together a petition to send to public health policy makers to show support for women and parents making their own choice about how to feed their infants.

This site is not for or against breast feeding, but pro-choice. A woman should be able to make a decision that is best for her and her family.

?

Here's what the petition states:

"We know that making the best choice for feeding a new baby is one of the first and most important decisions a parent will ever make.

Whether a mom chooses breastfeeding or bottle feeding, we strongly believe all moms deserve access to the best information on the safe, nutritious options available to them. We oppose any effort to restrict the distribution of educational information, including infant formula samples, to new moms in the hospital. And we support moms' ability to breastfeed their babies when and where they need to. Let moms make the choice that's best for them and their baby based on knowledge, and we're confident they'll choose well. Because one thing's for sure, moms know best!"

?

If you feel like this is something you'd like to support, you can sign the petition by going to momsfeedingfreedom.com. It only takes a minute.? And, if this issue has impacted you personally, please go on to the testimonials section and share your story about how you chose to feed your baby.

?

If you agree, please also pass this e-mail along to other friends or family members to encourage their participation.?

?

Please email me and let me know if you chose to sign the petition!

?

Thanks for your help!
