A client of mine who is still solely breastfeeding her 5 month old twins said
to me today "with breastfeeding you have to totally trust your body since you
have no idea how much milk is going in the baby, as one would with a bottle.
And it is hard to overfeed or underfeed if you just do what the baby wants
you to do."
It occurred to me that the problem with so many things is we don't trust our
bodies, whether it be about letting our immune system fight colds without
antibiotics, letting babies come when ready, squelching fevers immediately
with aspirin or whatever, and supplementing. How could we teach our young
people to trust their bodies in the beginning, I wonder?
