In response to your Neo's question about diabetes and glucose levels in
mother's milk; perhaps he heard about the recent article in Diabetes Care:
"Long-Term Impact of Breast-Feeding on Body Weight and Glucose Tolerance in
Children of Diabetic Mothers". The authors concluded from this study that
breastfeeding during the first week of life after birth is a critical
period, when exposure to diabetic breast milk may have a negative long-term
influence on risk of overweight and diabetes in offspring of diabetic
mothers.... I just printed the article off and need to scrutinize it to see
what the data was that led to this conclusion as well as control of other
variables (such as was it really exclusive BF in first week, or
supplementation also, etc.). To print the article, go to the website below.
The year is 2005, volume #28, page 1457. You can print off a pdf copy of
the full article. If anyone reads and has comments, please post to the
list. THanks!
