Perhaps they are referring to Dr. Gartner's work (several years back)
referring to jaundice in breastfed babies as a normal state, with
bilirubin having anti-oxidant effects.  I believe that it was found in
mice that breast milk enhanced reabsorption of bilirubin, and his
contention was that if 2/3 of breastfed infants have elevated bili's,
then it must be a normal physiologic function instead of a pathologic
function.  Sorry to post without the reference.
