Recently a colleague of mine with a history of polycystic ovarian syndrome
has become pregnant for the 3rd time. She breastfed her first born for over
6 months but struggled with supply issues throughout. She was unaware at
that time that she had PCOS. After 2 years of trying for a second child she
was diagnosed with PCOS. Her second pregnancy miscarried in the first
trimester. She is now almost 7 weeks pregnant and taking progesterone and
Metformin. In retrospect, she feels strongly (as do I) that the PCOS was
partially to blame for the struggle and subsequent end to her milk supply
the first time. We both recall hearing someone discuss a little about taking
herbal supplements for a better outcome. Does anyone have any information
or knowledge of taking herbal supplements like Goats Rue during pregnancy
with history of PCOS... when to start taking? how much?

Currently one of my clients whose 2nd child is in NICU for preterm, had no
milk come in with her first baby and at 10 days post partum has very little
milk this time around, she has history of PCOS, and I would like to offer
her some suggestions as well to help increase her supply.

Thanks!
