Hi Jennifer,
  Below is a research article entitled Ankyloglossia:  To Clip or Not to Clip.  That is the Question.  It states that the adverse effects of ankyloglossia on speech is still controversial.  Some say speech is not affected by tongue tie at all while others swear it is.  It is good to read the research with a critical eye.
