In reference ot the mom who had a miscarriage and is wanting to take
black cohosh:
Black cohosh is usually used in combination with blue cohosh to
facilitate labor, But only under the supervision of a midwife, as it
can cause intense contactions ans excessive bleeding. We do not even
know at this point that this mom has retained placenta, so she may be
irritating the uterus for no reason. I personally use black cohosh in
tincture for coughs and have given it to my children as young as this
toddler. I also ingested a LOT of both of these herbs while in labor
with my daughter and while still breastfeeding my older son, but again
I was under midwifery supervision. If this were me, I would use
homeopathy, not herbs at this point for the bleeding. I would also be
taking foods and herbs to restore tone and nourish the body--like
alfalafa, red raspberry, chlorella and a green food. Having said all of
that, I miscarried while breastfeeding another child and hemorrhaged a
month later. I used homeopathic phosphorus to immediately stop the
bleeding, but ultimately had a D&C b/c of retained placenta and a
uterine infection. I did, however, do the D&C with no meds and used
homeopathic arnica right away for pain and healing and green foods to
rebuild my blood.
