Jenifer,
the doctors  r/o viruses and bacteria. Probably right now the mucosal membrane of the gut is so damage, that anything will  cause the bleeding.  What about  Lactose intolerance?   Proteins ingested by mom, that passes through the breast milk could be an offender. Food is organic.  Food contains, DNA, DNA is protein.  As you can see, it could be any kind of protein that mom has ingested. 

I do not have my Syllabus with me, ILCA 2002, there was a speaker from Canada that presented Colitis and Lactose intolorance.  Perhaps someone on lactnet can email Jenifer the name of the speaker and her email.
