I won't be celebrating Thanksgiving til Saturday as today is just an
ordinary workday here. But I have been thinking of what I am thankful for,
and Lactnet is right near the very top of the list.

Thanks for the supportiveness and openness on Lactnet. You all contribute
to that. Thanks for the help available here to those of us working farther
from the IBCLC community, even though it is relatively BF-friendly here.

And today, thanks to Jeannette Panchula for her lovely tribute to the
organization which has nurtured her in so many areas, the much-maligned LLL.

But this is what I am most thankful for: today I found a news story on the
internet about a fire in the stairwell of an apt. building in Oslo. Two
mothers, each with one child, had to jump from the third floor to escape the
flames, and all got out safely and unharmed. The firefighters were there to
catch them, and it meant especially a lot to me because one of the children
is 'mine', born at home 2 years ago when his mother lived in my town. She
was just 19 at the time. She exclusively breastfed him for at least six
months. The news story sent chills down my spine and made me cry, but it
didn't surprise me at all that his mother never panicked, just started tying
ropes together to lower him down in a bag before the fire dept. arrived.
She has known what this boy needed since before he was born, and she has
provided it unwaveringly. Thank goodness for mothers.
