about 18 mths ago  the Mail published an article on  wetnursing and the
words of the LLLGB spokeswoman were  wrongly reported,  and it  implied that
Herpes was transmitted in the milk.  The Herpes Virus Association wrote and
complained about what was printed -  and  I believe a correction was
published .  Per the Association - no it is not passed on in the milk,  but
can be passed on by contact.  I presume that this could be by an infected
finger touching  a bottle teat just as easily as a mother's nipple.  The HVA
have a story on their website about another such death,  the mother
contracted a  cold sore for the first time after birth  so passed on no
placental immunity.  All very sad
