There are hospitals in  England  which  encourage a/n expression for diabetic mothers and for other mothers whose baby might be at risk of supplementation such as those with  a cleft lip/palate.  Whether the 'problem' is  with the  mother or baby it can help prevent early supplementation.  In fact   a/n expression is mentioned in the  latest NICE [national institute of clinical excellence] guidelines

There is a policy from Australia here on

which refers to   an article by a midwife from a hospital which  does support the practice [Oscroft R (2001) Antenatal expression of colostrum  Practising Midwife  Vol 4 No. 4 pp32 - 35.]

Can anyone in the US or Canada access this full article and share it?
