Laura says:

>I believe OSHA and/or Joint Commission require mom's milk to be stored in
a separate refrigerator. We have 1 on Peds & 1 in NICU designated "for
breast milk only." There are some very stringent requirements about what and
how things can be stored in the patients' refrigerator.<

I've searched the OSHA and Joint Commission websites and can't find any such
recommendation. They only say that gloves should be worn by those persons
frequently handling breastmilk such as milk bank employees. On our Peds
unit we store breastmilk in the patient refrigerator. Same with the
med-surg units and ICU. Are we doing the wrong thing? I've just ordered
the 2005 HMBANA guideline booklet but haven't seen it yet.
