PS. I'd be much more comfortable if he were gaining an ounce a day. I would
also tell the mother clearly what to look for..in terms of nutritive
sucking, number of wet and dirty diapers...etc, all the signs of a thriving
baby. Her baby will be sleepy at times and will not be as strong as a term
baby..so she will need concrete ways to tell, and also continuing in person
(not phone) support. Kathleen
