I have read the book "The No-Cry Sleep Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley. I
found it to be easy-to-read and full of helpful information, especially for
mothers who are breastfeeding and cosleeping. This book urges mothers of
young babies (under 4 months) to breastfeed often at night. It provides
good suggestions for mothers of older babies and toddlers who are trying to
find ways to get their babies to sleep for 4-hour stretches. It has a
helpful explanation of the physiology of infant sleep and explains why it is
normal for babies to want to feed often at night.

I have suggested this book to many of the moms who attend a breastfeeding
support group I lead. Our cultural expectations of what is "normal" for
babies are so out of line when it comes to sleeping and feeding frequency.
I believe this book is useful for teaching moms.

I also highly recommend Dr. Jay Gordon's book, "Good Nights, The Happy
Parents' Guide to the Family Bed (And a Peaceful Nights Sleep)". Another
helpful book is "Sweet Dreams: A Pediatrician's Secrets for Your Child's
Good Night's Sleep" by Dr. Paul Fleiss. These latter two books are available
from La Leche League's online catalogue at
