Some mothers also experience the MER as pain (I did with one babe and not the
other).
I would like to underscore this statement. I had personal experience with
teeth-gritting let-down pain. It occurred during the first and sometimes
second let-down especially if it had been a long time since the last feeding
(but I fed on demand). The pain was in my breasts (not my nipples) and
lasted months not weeks, gradually diminishing. Interestingly, the pain was
stronger in the *unused* breast. Also, much less severe with baby #2.
Have also spoken with other moms with MER pain; it's not just me.
Just subbed to list a few days ago as a new LLLL hoping to continue to learn
about unusual situations and keep current in lactation research. Planned to
just lurk but felt compelled to respond.
