It is my understanding that infants with attachment disorder, DO NOT want to
be held at all...and when they do, it is not by the mother. Babies with
attachment disorder..... resist comforting, do not make eye contact, rarely
cry and do not want to be touched generally. This baby sounds like
all of MY babies..needing to be held and feed by "the Mother". I think this
is common and a sign of a VERY attached child. I wonder if there is more to
this story, it sounds as if the "experts" had no real understanding of how a
normal baby behaves and how often breastfed babies eat. I am so glad you
suggested to her that she could still nurse her baby. There is much wisdom
in the archives on how to help moms relactate. Very unfortunate situation
indeed.
