My search on PubMed turned up nothing and I tried several search terms, so that's probably why there's little/nothing in references. As per your search, all I turned up was caution re: Heps B&C and other blood-borne pathogens that could be potentially hazardous to both mom and baby.

What may be helpful is if the mother could find out exactly what dyes would be used -- and related chemical name(s). That may be in refs. Also, if truly concerned, she will probably have many years post-BF when she can receive and enjoy body art without any concern -- other than the blood-borne pathogens.

Karen (mother of two with a tattoo, which I wasn't informed about until after the fact)
