Hi Sandra, I am new to lactnet. Have just been reading postings when I saw
your posting. I would like to introduce myself first. My name is Sandy
Wesorick. I coordinate our
prenatal and breastfeeding education at Saint Mary's Mercy Medical center
in Grand Rapids, MI. I am an RN, IBCLC, CCE. I am also a graphic artist. I
have created what is now a power point presentation on breastfeeding. I
needed a presentation for new moms, my breastfeeding classes and to show to
residents, nursing students (we have 3 BSN schools in OB rotation this
semester), physician office staff, and our staff. Also I wanted to make it
easy to understand. My goal with the
presentation was to present information along with many pictures to show
what I am trying to get across. There aren't alot of resources that I could
find on breastfeeding with information and alot of pictures that are
demonstrating correct positioning. I do intend to market this in CD and
book form so new moms can have access to positioning etc. I have found
professionals like it too since they can see what I am trying to point
out!! Right now I have about 100 pages, most with
graphic art pictures. Some of the subjects covered are Risks of formula
with the latest statistics (bibliography is availble too), benefits of
breastfeeding, prenatal education, "red Flags" (like breast reduction) that
health care providers need to be aware of, labor positions using birth
ball, milk transfer, diagram of breast and infant latched on with diagram
of nipple and areola in baby's mouth, hormones of lactation, skin to skin,
correct and incorrect positioning picutres, latch on, suck pattern, how to
tell baby is getting enough, typical newborn, first few weeks, engorgement
and more. This is a presentation, but the slides do have writing
identifying what the picture is about. It may be too easy to understand for
residents etc. but I have found it works well for residents. For more info
