I posted yesterday asking if LOS is shorter for bottlefed premies. I
would like to clarify - these are by and large breastmilk-fed babies.
I am lucky to work at a hospital that has a 90-95% breastfeeding
initiation rate and most of these babies go home being fed bottles of
breastmilk. The NNP (and I) would like to see if it really makes a
difference (i.e. longer LOS) to let them just breastfeed. As I said
in my previous post, there is an attached private room (with queen
sized bed, refridgerator, TV, full bath, etc) for the parents that
they can stay in free of charge the entire time their baby is a
patient, so moms can be there for all the feedings if they want.
