Hi Folks,

Here in Vermont, we have recently started a breastfeeding clinic on a
weekly basis...walk-in, reasonably priced,...staffed by five of us
IBCLCs who rotate through. We have a modest location, central, where we
rent space on a weekly basis for a small amount of money, ...we have a
few milk crates of supplies, a scale, etc,...

Lo and behold, there are miracles. We have, many of us, been providing
private LC help to mothers here in Vermont for years. We have now
learned that a major insurer in Vermont will be giving mothers a
choice....and they will be able to choose skilled professional
breastfeeding help from an IBCLC as one option. Three visits will
potentially be covered, and our clinic visits will be included in that.
Individual IBCLCs will be covered for limited services as well...if all
goes well.

This is good news here. Finally, skilled breastfeeding help from
professional IBCLCs is being recognized as a valuable service to mothers
and babies in Vermont. Yay for IBCLC, IBLCE, ILCA..etc...and
congratulations to all those who work so hard all over to support
mothers and babies...and to the hard working insurance employees who are
making this happen, recognizing the value in professional breastfeeding
support.

Best,

Kathleen
