Just another 2 cents as a mom of a child who had excema and also has 
asthma.  She breastfed forever!  Her allergy specialist told me when I was 
bemoaning the fact that she had several conditions that aren't "supposed to" 
occur with breastfeeding...."If she wouldn't have been breastfed, her 
sypmtoms would have been MUCH worse.  she would have been a very sick 
baby."  His exact words.  So there is at least 1 allergy specialist out there 
who knows whats going on.  Interestingly, her asthma symptoms began when 
she started preschool and didn't have as much access to the breast...hmmm.

Also about eczema.  After doing all the western medicine things for years, 
topical ointments, etc, I finally started some serious work with a homeopath.  
He treated her for a year, trying remedy after remedy.  Finally, BINGO!  We 
got the right remedy and she was CURED!  No more bloody arms and backs of 
knees.  no more incessant scratching.  Remember that many times skin 
conditions are merely an expression of stuff going on very deep.  

Another interesting note.  Emily's favorite topical "ointment" for eczema was 
breastmilk.  It stopped the pain and itching on contact.  I tried it on a whim 
one day and she continued to ask for it.  Go figure!
