Hello all--I am back from the Philippines but still on nomail until I catch
up with 2 weeks of schoolwork....however, I need the collective wisdom of
Lactnetters for this one:

A client was told by a dermatologist that the rash she is experiencing is
caused by the hormones related to lactation. She has been advised that it
will not go away unless she weans and stops pumping....has anyone ever heard
of such a cause for a rash?? She states that the rash is over her entire body
except her face, with large blotches and very itchy. Benadryl did nothing to
relieve it, so she has been put on Prednisone. Her baby was a premie, so she
has been pumping and working very hard at breastfeeding for the last 5 weeks.
I advised her to get a second opinion on the rash, and told her what Hale's
book says about prednisone being OK for breastfeeding. Anyone who may have
experience or insight into this (other than "when in doubt, blame
breastfeeding" ??) please email me privately as I will be nomail for another
week or two.

Many thanks,
