Thank you to everyone that replied to my high detailed oriented mom. She is calming down a bit yet still trying to get milk supply in. Baby is 8 days old. Mom has had access to a PNS from day one and she lives so far away from the city that it is hard to have her come down the mountain unless it is absolute necessary. She now has a symphony and she reports that the milk is coming out easier and just a little more than before with the PNS. She is only getting a solid ounce all together at each pumping session. She is pumping 8 times a day for 15 minutes. She has been taking mothers milk tea and have had two or three acupuncture treatments. No PCOS or thyroid issues. She had a beautiful unmedicated midwife attended birth. She was engorged at day 3-4. By day 5 things were calming down and she was adequately draining the breast. She doesn't appear asymmetrical. Any other suggestions other than adding domperidone or reglan? Mom puts baby to breast 2 times a day at least to have that bonding time and have the baby be familiar with the breast, smells, taste. However, mom did report that the baby did latch on during one of the skin to skin times yesterday and she heard some swallows. Baby had some sucking issues latch week and since I live an hour away from this mom she is too overwhelmed to attempt at putting baby at breast, then waiting to see if the latch, position and milk transfer are successful and then pumping and preparing bottles of EBM and ABM. So we are doing what we can with what we have. If you have any thing else to add that I am not thinking of please let me know PM or here on wonderful lactnet. Thank you.
